The joy of giving back – Read Melissa’s heartwarming story

Updated: Jun 17, 2019

Melissa had been involved in care work since the age of 16, with this background she decided to look for new opportunities to help different people. Her family members recommended Source Care, and after contacting us she came in for a same day walk in interview, beginning the start of her new journey with Source Care.

She was signed up for our free care certificate training which started her on the journey to becoming a Healthcare Assistant. At the start of the course Melissa had limited experience in the care industry but found the versatile and engaging nature of our training important to her development.

Melissa says, “Everyone here is really nice and caring. I love being able to spend time with different people and watching them grow and develop.”

Since completing her training in September, Melissa has continued to flourish in her roles. Like all our carers, Melissa enjoys being able to work with a variety of service users including the elderly and those with additional needs. Melissa is looking forward to engaging in Source Care’s additional training courses to achieve more advance Healthcare qualifications.

“Melissa as a carer has truly made a huge impact on my dad’s quality of life. Before she started to care for my dad, he would often refuse to do things like take tablets and his Alzheimer’s had started to decline. Now dad is keeping at a steady rate with his Alzheimer’s and he always has a smile on his face. He looks forward to whenever Melissa comes around as she is more than a carer to him, she is his friend. She always goes above and beyond her call of duty.” – Source Care client.
