Care work pays off - Mahida's inspiring story

Updated: Jun 17, 2019

Nine months ago, Mahida approached Source Care with an interest in becoming a Healthcare Assistant (HCA). Mahida had no experience in the care industry and no care qualifications, but she had the things that we look for in every Healthcare Assistant - commitment and a good heart. Mahida took part in our free care certificate training course, and took to the content immediately, catching our trainer’s eye and impressing us with her natural talent for care. Within a few weeks of completing her training, Mahida got her care career underway by working her first shift as a Healthcare Assistant. From this first shift, we knew Mahida was special, with an unrivalled work ethic and absolute commitment to her work, doing all she could to assist residents in every way possible and spreading smiles around the care homes she worked in. Mahida soon won our Carer of the Month award as a result of her consistent dedication and excellent standard of work.

“As a trainer, I always endeavour to instil Source Care values into all our candidates. Mahida exemplifies these values in her work, focusing on person centred care and understanding that everyone is an individual and should be treated as such. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Mahida!” – Source Care Trainer.

Mahida took full advantage of our flexible working schedule, opting to work full weeks, and then taking well-earned breaks to spend quality time with her family. After 9 months working for us as a HCA, Mahida had gained the experience and knowledge required to progress on to a more senior role. With the help and support of the Source Care team, Mahida was able to secure a full-time Team Leader position with a leading care group, with the potential for further career progression to a Unit Manager position. Mahida is continuing to do a fantastic job in her new role. We would like to thank Mahida for her many contributions to Source Care and the light she brought into so many residents lives. We wish her all the best in her new position.

Mahida says: “Although the days are busy and the workload is always growing, there are still those special moments when someone says or does something and you know you’ve made a difference in someone’s life. That’s why I became a Healthcare Assistant. I want to thank Source Care for helping me reach my full potential, I will always remember where I started, and for that I am grateful.”
